Herpetofauna of Ohio
Ohio’s Reptiles and amphibians are among our most unique and diverse organisms, but are also among our most illusive. A little, striped gartersnake disappearing through the grass or a painted turtle basking on a distant log are the clearest glimpses most Ohioans will ever have of our 26 species (and subspecies) of snakes, 11 species of turtles, 5 species of lizards, 14 species of frogs, and 24 species of salamanders. Through my photography, I aim to (quite literally) shed light on our scaly and slimy neighbors. All the images in this project are of wild reptiles and amphibians from the state of Ohio. All animals were returned to their site of capture immediately following field photographs.
